A quick guide to the catalog's controls. If you're looking for information about the project, how to contribute, or the data license, see the Information page.
Search and filter
The search box at the top of the catalog filters by cave name, comarca and municipality as you type. To filter by more specific criteria (major unit, unit, comarca, municipality, type or lithology), open More filters: each category has its own text search to quickly find an option among the available ones, and you can select more than one at a time. The number of active filters is shown as a badge next to the button. The Clear filters button resets them all at once.
The minimum vertical range and minimum length controls, in the same panel, let you rule out the smallest caves from a query.
Display mode
Three buttons control how results are shown: Mixed (map and list side by side), List (list only, full screen) and Map (map only). Your choice is remembered between visits.
The map
Each marker represents a cave; in areas with high density they're shown grouped into numbered clusters that split apart as you zoom in (this can be turned off withGroup markers on the map, in the filters panel). Clicking a marker opens a mini card with a photo, type and basic statistics, with a direct link to the full record.
The map type selector (top right corner) lets you switch between Terrain, Streets, Satellite, Hybrid and the ICGC topographic map. On mobile, a button in the top left corner centers the map on your current location (you need to grant location permission to the browser).
The map's position and zoom level are saved in the page address, so you can share or bookmark a map centered on a specific area.
A cave's record page
Each record includes a description, entrances (with coordinates), a location map, photographs and surveys (when available), bibliography, history and biology. TheDownload record as PDF and Share buttons, at the top, generate a PDF of the record or copy/share the direct link.
The ← Back link, at the very top, returns exactly to where you were in the catalog (with the same filters and the same map position), unlike a link to the homepage, which would always restart the search.
Export
The Export CSV button, in the filters panel, downloads all caves matching the currently active filters in CSV format.
