EspeleoÍndex
This project was started in 2008 by Josep Manuel Miñarro and Francesc Rubinat, with Victor Rubinat i Cabanas handling the software side.
How you can contribute
Anyone interested in contributing to EspeleoÍndex can do so by submitting data of any kind, such as: previously unpublished caves, known caves reviewed with new data, surveys and photographs of caves whose records in EspeleoÍndex don't yet have any, or updated coordinates (these must be taken in UTM datum ETRS89 coordinates, equivalent to WGS84) — this requirement for coordinates is meant to standardize them, especially given that this is the cartographic base currently used by the ICGC (Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya, the Catalan Cartographic and Geological Institute).
Contributors who don't state otherwise will be credited in the bibliography of the record they contributed to.

EspeleoÍndex is an entirely private, non-profit initiative, made to be used freely and at no cost.
Content license
EspeleoÍndex's content is distributed under two different rights regimes, depending on the type of material:
Data and descriptive text — CC BY-NC 4.0
The catalog's technical data and descriptive text (cave name, type, comarca, municipality, vertical range, length, descriptions, bibliography…) are under aCreative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), which authorizes their use and distribution as long as authorship is credited and no commercial use is made of them.
Photographs and surveys — All rights reserved
Photographs and cave surveys are excluded from the Creative Commons license and are subject to full rights reservation (standard copyright):

Intellectual property and use of content
The photographs, surveys, text and other data that make up EspeleoÍndex are the property of their authors and contributors. The Creative Commons license indicated above applies only to the data and descriptive text; it does not cover the photographs or surveys, which remain under full reservation of rights.
Bear in mind that neither arrangement constitutes an assignment or transfer of rights: the authors retain ownership of their works at all times. Therefore, any reproduction of the content outside the terms stated above — in particular, the use of images or data without attribution, for commercial purposes, or by third parties who lack express authorization — is not permitted.
EspeleoÍndex has not assigned, transferred or authorized its content — neither its images, nor its data, nor its surveys — to any third party. In particular, it is expressly stated that EspeleoÍndex has not provided any data or content to the website "espeleoworld.com", nor has it granted any permission for that site to reproduce, copy or distribute its images or data.
Any unauthorized use of EspeleoÍndex's content constitutes an infringement of the intellectual property rights of its holders. EspeleoÍndex reserves the right to pursue whatever legal action may be appropriate to protect its rights and those of its contributors.
EspeleoÍndex is intended solely for speleologists. Caving involves a high level of risk without basic technical knowledge. Anyone drawn to caving who wants to get started can contact theFederació Catalana d'Espeleologia (Catalan Federation of Speleology), who will duly inform them on the subject.
