Caving in Spain is organised regionally: each autonomous community has its own federation, which brings together federated clubs and cavers, manages activity insurance, runs training courses and outings, and is the usual point of contact for anyone wanting to take up caving safely. If you're looking for a club near you, introductory courses, or how to join a federation, these organisations are the reference.

Regional speleology federations

Other organisations and resources

Beyond the regional federations, these other organisations and resources are also worth knowing about: a scientific society devoted to the study of karst, a long-standing club, and two outlets for news and outreach from the caving world.

Mapping and scientific resources

Finally, three official and scientific reference bodies: Catalonia's mapping and geological authority, Spain's geological and mining institute, and the international union that coordinates speleological research worldwide.

This list is not meant to be exhaustive. If you know of a federation or organisation that should be here and isn't, write to us atespeleoindex@gmail.com.
