Tot i el topònim de cova es tracta d'una balma tancada per una paret de pedra seca d'1 metre d'alçada que s'emprava com a cleda per al bestiar, cosa que deu fer bastant de temps que no s'utilitza, ja que el sòl està net, sense la presència habitual de xerri.
