Caves and potholes in el Montnegre

Montnegre, in Maresme, protected together with the serra del Corredor as a natural park, is a forested massif of granites and schists separating the Maresme coast from the Vallès plain. This lithology, uncommon for karst, generates cavities and shelters of a different type from limestone ones, in one of the best-preserved natural spaces near Barcelona.

The catalogue includes 6 cavitats (4 coves i 2 avencs) in el Montnegre, concentrated in Tordera and Malgrat de Mar. ARANYES, AVENC DE LES, amb 72 m de recorregut.
