Caves with Marbres lithology

Marble is limestone that has undergone pressure and temperature until it recrystallized, but it remains a carbonate rock and therefore soluble. Caves in marble are possible through the same mechanism as in the original limestone, although the rock’s crystalline texture often gives the walls a visually different look, more compact and shiny.

There are 22 cavitats (10 coves i 12 avencs) catalogued with lithology Marbres, mostly in Queralbs, Naut Aran and Vielha e Mijaran. UELH DETH TOR, HORAT DER, amb 1718 m de recorregut.
