Caves and potholes in l'Espluga de Francolí
L’Espluga de Francolí, in the Conca de Barberà, sits by the riu Francolí, very close to the monestir de Poblet. Its very name – “espluga” means cave – already points to the municipality’s most distinctive feature: the Cova de la Font Major, one of the most extensive and most visited karst systems in Catalonia, which lends its name to a benchmark catalogue of cavities for the area.
