Prat de Comte, one of the smallest municipalities in the Terra Alta, sits on the northern slope of the Ports de Beseit, the limestone massif it shares with the Baix Ebre and the Montsià. Its territory, sparsely populated and rugged, shares in the same extensive karst that makes this ridge one of the areas with the most catalogued cavities in southern Catalonia.
