Heatmap
Areas of Catalonia with the highest concentration of catalogued caves.
The map shows the geographic distribution of the 4899 caves catalogued in the database: the more intense a zone, the more catalogued caves it concentrates. The counties with the highest concentration are Baix Llobregat, Berguedà and Vallès Occidental.
You can zoom in to explore the detail by municipality or pan across any part of the territory; the same data source that powers the rest of the catalogue (county, municipality, rock type and each cave's own entry) is represented here.
Among caves with recorded depth, the average is 17 metres (maximum 571 m); among those with a measured surveyed length, the average is 55 metres (maximum 13513 m). Of the total catalogued, 2943 are caves and 1956 are potholes.
