Caves and shafts in Baix Llobregat

Baix Llobregat is, by a wide margin, the county with the most cataloged caves and potholes in all of EspeleoÍndex. Much of this density is due to the proximity of the Montserrat massif —a conglomerate that, despite not being pure limestone, has developed a system of cavities extensive enough to have been the subject of constant speleological exploration for decades. The rest of the territory, between the Llobregat plain and the foothills climbing towards Vallès, adds a good number of minor cavities in limestone.

The catalogue includes 537 cavitats (163 coves i 374 avencs) in Baix Llobregat, concentrated in Begues, Vallirana and Collbató. Coves del Salnitre, amb 958 m de recorregut.
