Caves with Dolomies lithology

Caves in dolomite share the karst origin of limestone caves —slow dissolution by infiltrating water— but the rock, richer in magnesium, tends to produce more irregular and, in many stretches, more fragile forms. It’s a common lithology in the catalog’s Prepyrenean and Pyrenean massifs, where dolomite appears interbedded with limestone within the same range.

There are 371 cavitats (147 coves i 224 avencs) catalogued with lithology Dolomies, mostly in Vallirana, Roquetes and Alfara de Carles.
