Caves and potholes in Garraf

The massís del Garraf is probably the best-known and most explored coastal karst terrain in Catalonia: a relatively small limestone plateau with an exceptional density of caves and potholes, thanks to decades of continuous speleological prospecting from Barcelona and the neighboring Baix Llobregat. It is often the first training ground for many generations of Catalan cavers.

192 cavitats (67 coves i 125 avencs) in Garraf have been catalogued, mainly in Sitges, Olivella and Sant Pere de Ribes. FALCONERA, LA, amb 600 m de recorregut.

Garraf has an area of 185 km², located mostly in la Serralada Litoral. This means an approximate density of 103.8 catalogued caves per 100 km².
