Caves with Travertins lithology

Travertine is not an “original” rock like massive limestone, but the result of the chemical precipitation of carbonate from waters carrying it —typical of springs, waterfalls and drip pools. The cavities that form in it are few but singular: they tend to appear where there still is (or once was) an active water flow depositing material year after year.

111 cavitats (96 coves i 15 avencs) with lithology Travertins are part of the catalogue. Most are found in Esparreguera, Cabrera d'Anoia and Serinyà.
