Caves and potholes in Gavà
Gavà, in the Baix Llobregat, combines a built-up coastline with a municipality that rises towards the massís del Garraf. It is known archaeologically for the Mines de Gavà, a set of Neolithic variscite workings among the oldest in Europe, dug into a subsoil that already hinted at the karst potential of the area. This limestone relief of the Garraf now sustains the municipality’s catalogue of cavities.
