Sand Caves in Catalonia
Sand is an unconsolidated sediment, and cavities cataloged with this lithology are few and exceptional: without cementation, the rock cannot support an open passage for long without collapsing. When one does appear in the catalog, it tends to result from very local compaction conditions or a recent erosion process.
