Caves and potholes in Maià de Montcal

Maià de Montcal, one of the smallest municipalities in the Garrotxa, spreads over a rural, sparsely populated territory, between fields and woods that border the Alt Empordà. Far from the volcanic activity that characterizes other parts of the comarca, its gentler relief nonetheless contains karst formations typical of the limestone bedrock that runs through this part of the Garrotxa.
