Caves and potholes in Olot

Olot, capital of the Garrotxa, rises on a volcanic landscape unique in Catalonia, with the cones of the Montsacopa and Garrinada volcanoes right within the urban centre and the Fluvià running through the city. This eruptive origin, within the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa, coexists with cave formations associated with the basaltic lava flows and the sedimentary materials of the surrounding area, quite different from the usual limestone karst of the catalogue.
