Caves and potholes in Santa Pau

Santa Pau, in the Garrotxa, lies within the Parc Natural de la Zona Volcànica de la Garrotxa, with a well-preserved medieval centre around its arcaded square. Its municipal area, marked by volcanic terrain and beech forests, also has sectors of older bedrock where cavities of a different type from the usual karst ones are documented, characteristic of this singular geological setting.
