Caves and potholes in Tremp

Tremp, capital of the Pallars Jussà, sits in a basin surrounded by Prepyrenean ranges of pronounced relief – the Montsec to the south, the Boumort to the north –, which explain the presence of a notable number of catalogued cavities in the municipal area. The area is also known for its dinosaur fossil sites, evidence of a rich sedimentary geology that goes far beyond the karst.
