Caves and potholes in Sant Llorenç del Munt

The massif of Sant Llorenç del Munt, protected jointly with the serra de l’Obac as a natural park, extends between Vallès Occidental and Bages. It is formed mostly of conglomerates – an uncommon lithology for generating karst, which gives rise to cavities with particular morphologies, different from the typical ones in limestone. Municipalities such as Matadepera or Mura, on its slopes, hold a notable number of cataloged cavities.
