Caves and potholes in el Salí de Cardona

Salí de Cardona, in Bages, is one of the most singular geological formations in Catalonia: a salt diapir that outcrops at the surface forming a true mountain of salt, mined for centuries. This exceptional lithology – gypsum and salt rather than limestone – generates fast-dissolving cavities there, quite different from the rest of the catalog.

There are 4 cavitats catalogued in el Salí de Cardona, mostly in Cardona and Cervià de les Garrigues. MEANDRES DE SAL, COVA DELS, amb 4300 m de recorregut.
