Caves and potholes in la Depressió Central

The Depressió Central is Catalonia’s great interior plain, between the Prepirineu and the Prelitoral and Litoral ranges, dominated by Tertiary materials poorly suited to karst. The cataloged cavities are concentrated in specific spots where limestone or gypsum rock outcrops —such as les Garrigues or l’Altiplà del Lluçanès— islands of karst relief amid a mostly agricultural, gently rolling territory.

There are 272 cavitats (251 coves i 21 avencs) catalogued in la Depressió Central, mostly in la Granadella, Moià and Lluçà. MEANDRES DE SAL, COVA DELS, amb 4300 m de recorregut.
