Caves and potholes in Vielha e Mijaran

Vielha e Mijaran, capital of the Val d’Aran, sits in a Pyrenean valley with an Atlantic-facing slope, geologically dominated by granite and schist rather than the limestone typical of the rest of the catalogue. This different lithology, together with a much rainier climate than the rest of Catalonia, gives rise to a distinctive type of cavity and erosion process within the territory as a whole.

44 cavitats (6 coves i 38 avencs) in Vielha e Mijaran are part of the catalogue. BARGADÈRA, SISTEMA DE LA, amb 2100 m de recorregut.
