Caves and potholes in el Port

Els Ports, protected as a Parc Natural, form an extensive and sparsely populated limestone massif straddling Baix Ebre, Montsià and Terra Alta, extending further into Aragon and the Valencian Country. The abrupt relief and deeply karstic terrain have favored one of the most important groups of potholes in southern Catalonia, some very deep, alongside more accessible caves and shelters at lower elevations. It is also one of the least humanly pressured areas in the catalog, which has allowed a nearly intact karst to be preserved.
