Caves and potholes in Val d'Aran

Val d’Aran, the only Catalan county on the Atlantic slope (its waters flow to the Bay of Biscay via the Garona, not to the Mediterranean), has a geology dominated by granites and schists, quite different from the calcareous karst usual elsewhere in the catalog. Its much rainier climate and Atlantic vegetation make it a singular territory within the whole.

70 cavitats (16 coves i 54 avencs) in Val d'Aran have been catalogued, mainly in Vielha e Mijaran, Naut Aran and Bossòst. BARGADÈRA, SISTEMA DE LA, amb 2100 m de recorregut.
