Caves and potholes in Montsec d'Ares

Montsec d’Ares is one of the three major sectors into which the serra del Montsec is usually divided – together with Montsec de Rúbies and Montsec d’Estall –, straddling Pallars Jussà and Noguera. The serra del Montsec, also known for its astronomical observatories thanks to the area’s low light pollution, is an extensive limestone massif with well-developed karst and a notable number of cataloged cavities.

There are 87 cavitats (45 coves i 42 avencs) catalogued in Montsec d'Ares, mostly in Sant Esteve de la Sarga, Àger and Castell de Mur. CORRALOT, GRALLERA GRAN DEL, amb 1977 m de recorregut.
