Caves and shafts in Alta Garrotxa

Alta Garrotxa is the northern, mountainous sector of the county of Garrotxa, with abrupt relief and a calcareous substrate – unlike the volcanic zone of Garrotxa proper, better known and located further south. It also extends towards Ripollès and Alt Empordà, in a sparsely populated mid-mountain zone that has preserved a rich karst, relatively unexplored compared with other Catalan massifs.

The catalogue includes 165 cavitats (106 coves i 59 avencs) in Alta Garrotxa, concentrated in Albanyà, Camprodon and Montagut i Oix. Sistema de les Bores del Borró, amb 1315 m de recorregut.
